On March 25 and 26, 2023, the School of Statistics and Mathematics held the "International Symposium on Quantitative Economics, Management Science and Statistical Decision-making", with Professor Cheng Kaiming, Dean of SSM, and Professor Zhang Shangfeng, Director of the Institute of Quantitative Economics, as the executive chairmen of the conference. Over 50 experts and scholars in the fields of quantitative economics, statistics and management science both at home and abroad participated in the academic exchanges online.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Zhang Shangfeng, and Professor Su Weihua, Vice President of Zhejiang Gongshang University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered an opening speech. President Su welcomed the participation of experts and scholars at home and abroad, introduced the centennial development history of ZJSU and the basic situation of the School of Statistics and the Institute of Quantitative Economics, placed ardent hopes on the success of the conference, wished the conference a complete success, and made an appointment to meet again offline on the bank of the Qiantang River in Hangzhou in the coming year.

Our school’s Prof. Gu Wentao and Prof. Watada of Waseda University, Japan, chaired the keynote report. Prof. Waseda, Prof. Huang Kunhuang of Taipei University of Commerce, Prof. Narayan of Monash University, Australia, and Associate Professor Sharma, Deakin University, Australia, delivered a keynote speech titled “From the categorical data analysis to the linguistic data analysis”, “Causal complexity analysis for fintech adoption”, “Structural Breaks in Interactive Effects Panels and the Stock Market Reaction to COVID-19”, and “Does green activity impact stock price crash risk? The role of climate risk” respectively. Among them, Emerging Markets, a well-known international econometrician, Professor Narayan from Monash University, Australia, chief editor of the journal Finance &Trade SSCI, introduced the identification of structural change points in the interactive fixed effect model and the estimation of the change point interval, and applied it to the example of the impact of the new coronavirus epidemic on the stock market, and provided a set of simple and effective methods and equipped with a toolbox for everyone to use The theme of the conference will be presented to the experts and the questions raised by the participants will be answered and discussed in detail.

In the branch venue, more than 30 well-known scholars and young talents from prestigious universities at home and abroad participated in the online academic exchange report. The paper scholars reported their latest research results, and the online experts commented on the papers and carried out discussions and exchanges. Multi-agent interaction helps young scholars and talents make progress together. The academic content is rich and the topics are diverse, and the multidisciplinary characteristics of quantitative economics, statistics and management science are prominent. The participating scholars expressed their honor to be invited to participate in this international academic conference and benefited a lot, and expressed their gratitude to the organizers of the conference, the School of Statistics and Mathematics of Zhejiang Gongshang University and the Institute of Quantitative Economics of Zhejiang Gongshang University.

The successful holding of this conference not only showcases the scientific research strength of the disciplines of statistics and quantitative economics of our school, but also provides an important platform for our school to further promote international exchanges and strengthen international cooperation, promotes the academic exchanges between teachers and students and universities and scientific research institutions at home and abroad, and effectively enhances the discipline attraction and influence of statistics and quantitative economics of ZJSU.
